Saw Theophilus London at the W last night, the kid is swagged out. He rocked the house with tracks off of Lovers Holiday as well as some off of his latest album, Timez Are Weird These Days. Check out some snaps & a short video i caught.
Fresh off the wire, servin' up all the magic you can possibly stomach. I had the chance to catch up with Mr. LMJ (Leon Milne Jr.) and talk about his new EP "Eat My Magic" right before he was on his way to another radio interview, busy guy!! For those of you new to his talent he's an ATLien now living in Miami. Self proclaimed super hero and a rather talented violinist/pianist.. and boy does he love his violins!
First thing I wanted to ask LMJ is how he came up with the theme/name for his EP "Eat My Magic"
Well it kinda just came to me, I just conjured it up..while skating one day [chuckles]. The reason I call it magic is because I'm sort of a wizard, the music comes from nothing and that music is a form of magic and that's what I cook up..I also like to cook in real life by the way [laughter], this would be what i'm serving to my fans.
Nice! So what was the recording process like?
Everything started last summer and a lot of songs didn't make it onto the album, Eat My Magic being the first song. I produced the majority of the EP along with outside production from Star Slinger, Stew Rat, Hudson Mohawk, and Mayor Hawthorne. Also did a remix of John Mayers "Dreaming with a Broken Heart" which I've gotten a lot of praise for..I produce, record, and write all my music..very much an indie artist 100%.
What's your favorite song on "EMM"
*thinks* I'd have to say Punk Drunk Love [chuckles] .. (irockudont) Good job on the video by the way! Where did you guys shoot? Oh thank you, yeah we shot at the venetian pool in Miami and it was crazy finding the right model for the video too!...the girl you see in the vid, Daniella, we met her at Bardot the night before the shoot [laughs]. (irockudont) You're kidding! no way..you guys did a great job it came out really cool! Thank you!
Oh and I Love the album art, who's behind it?
That would be Gabriel Gimenez of GG artwork..just went to his studio, described what I wanted and that's what we came up with. A great blend of Magic if I don't say so myself..

So..do you really think you're Harry Potter? Explain this to me [laughing]
[Bursts out in laughter] woooow hmm..I just believe in the magic of music and i can relate to Harry Potter in a sense and I loved the story. Cool cool..and you definitely relay that in your music and live performances.
Speaking of performances..are there any big named artists out there that you would like to collaborate with in the future?
There's so many..Pharell Williams, Gnarles Barkley, Tinie Tempah, Panic Bomber....Miami Horror and Crystal Castles...that's all i can think of for now but there's definitely quite a few artists that I would love to work with. Good stuff man!
So what can the fans expect in the future from LMJ?
Well I've got a few performances coming up in August and they can also lookout for another single/video set to release in September.
