FINALLY the interview is here :)..I know you guys have been eagerly awaiting the moment for me to catch up with Peterjay..sorry for the wait! But here's the good part..we got I Am Imageri in on the discussion as well and all I can say is..expect great things from these two in the months to come.
Here's the inside scoop!
First of
all congratulations on so many things! You've got a recent album release
"Mics & Pipes Dreams" , been declared as one of Miami's top
trending topics on twitter and you just dropped your "Swagguh What" video, which
was pretty dope btw. Let's talk about your album first...
For those
that haven't heard it yet..give me three words you would use to describe your
style of music and what they can expect from "Mics & Pipe
Dreams"?
Awh mann you stumping me on the first question *laughter* ..let's see Direct, Real, and Animated.
Good stuff! So what's been the most challenging thing you've faced with the production of the album? Or was it all smooth sailing?
No smooth sailing *laughter* It took me two years to get every track together..see when I first started the beats were different and my sound was different. I also evolved as an artist over the course of the album so I had to start over. I kept changing the sound of it because I needed the album to reflect who I was as and my view at present. As of now, I'm really comfortable with the artist I've become.
"Yeah no doubt, his beats and flow definitely evolved". - Imageri
Hard work pays off! Which brings me to the "Swagguh What" video, very creative if I don't say so myself. Your fans have definitely shown their support which lead to your recent title as a top trending topic on twitter..was that shocking at all?
WHHAAATTT I was so surprised lol..I first said "It's gotta be a virus" and then I went through my entire house telling everyone to check the site to see if it's true! That's wassup though..I mean it was only in Miami..but still a pretty big deal.
"Yeah man that's pretty big even if its just Miami lol..That's an accomplishment" "It also has a lot to do with our fan base at Dirty Viynl Entertainment [DVE!] ..we hyped the video so much that by the time it got out the fans just went crazy, you know" - Imageri
I'm with Imageri! lol ..that is a pretty big deal. So Imageri..I see you're featured along with LMS in the vid as well, unfortunately we're unable to get LMS in on the discussion, but what I wanna know is how you guys linked up? And what's the story behind I Am Imageri?
Well me and Jay (Peterjay) linked up about three years ago and at the time I had just been dropped from an underground label. He came across me at a show I was performing at and he was really digging the freestyle I did..after that he made it clear he wanted to do some collaborations, not too long we met up for that DVE (Dirty Vinyl Entertainment) connection, did a few features and he hollered at me for the album. I'm a big Rage Against the Machine and Slaughter House fan..so those two styles are what influence me most..that whole tongue twister philosophy is what I'm about and I don't believe in fillers..I'm not a filler rapper..I have so much to say so I make sure every bar has a meaning behind it.
"Yeah I knew I wanted LMS on it but Imageri was just...he has the sickest verses and he adapts to any beat pretty well." - Peterjay
That's wassup guys.. I understand you (Imageri) also have some new music coming out? Any album releases in the works?
We're working on the album right now actually "I am Imageri" under record label DVE of course..shout out lol...and we're looking at releasing it in November. I am Imageri is basically a meaning of what it is to be an Imageri..every track relates to an aspect of my life so it's my story..almost narrated to you. I'm not putting on a front as thug or a gangster..I'm none of that..Just a story of a middle class kid growing up in Miami..but you know Miami has a lifestyle whether you're a part of the gangester/thug life or not..you're faced with it and it becomes so a part of you that you just have to go with it. The album gives you a sophisticated hustler..a dude that's educated. I mean I've got three bachelors and I have Law School coming up so this is all what you can expect..I didn't grow up in the hood but I did what I had to do.
Wow that's incredible. It's what the music industry needs these days..besides talking about all the money and girls..and drugs..I respect what you're doing!
"Thank you, thank you so much" - Imageri
So where can we find you guys performance wise? Upcoming shows in the works?
"I have a rap battle performance on Oct 29th at Art of War..It's a Miami freestyle battle championship hosted by LMS" - Imageri
Perfect!! I really look forward to hearing more from you both..but I MUST ask one last important question... Justin Beiber...or Lady Gaga.
*Laughter*
Peterjay - hmmmm HARDEST question of the night..I choose "Or" lol
Lol wow ok what about you Imageri?
lol i think I'll go with Gaga..I don't really jam to her music but at the end of the day she stands for something and as an artist..if that's what you're gonna put out there as your work and fully stand behind it then I support you.
"Oh wait you can just copy and paste what Imageri said for me too!" - Peterjay
NOPE!! too late *laughing*..thanks a lot guys its been great talking to you both.
Thank You!
